On Saturday evening, the Madison Police Department received information regarding two vehicles whose occupants had been acting suspiciously in the parking lot of a metro area business.

They were then told the vehicles were headed northbound on Interstate 55 into Madison.

Officers found the vehicles proceeding northbound on Interstate 55 and attempted to make traffic stops on the two vehicles that were described as a black Dodge Charger and a black Mercedes SUV. The vehicles sped away from the officers and a vehicle pursuit ensued northbound on Interstate 55. Officers lost sight of the Mercedes SUV but were able to continue to pursue the Dodge Charger as it exited the Interstate northbound onto Nissan Parkway in Canton.

The vehicle crashed into a curb as the driver tried to turn near Ragsdale Road. Three male subjects then fled on foot from the vehicle. Officers were able to apprehend a teen who had been in the vehicle. Officers also determined that the Dodge Charger was reported stolen. Two of the subjects who fled the Dodge Charger on foot were picked up by the driver of the Mercedes SUV in that immediate area. Officers also discovered a gun that appeared to have been tossed by one of the subjects.

Shortly afterwards, other officers observed the original black Mercedes SUV now proceeding southbound on Interstate 55 at a high rate of speed entering Madison. Officers and deputies began pursuing this vehicle southbound. As the vehicle entered Ridgeland southbound on Interstate 55 the Ridgeland Police Department assisted with the pursuit.

The pursued vehicle exited the Interstate at County Line Road, proceeding west and then south onto State Street into Jackson. The vehicle abruptly stopped at State Street and White Oak Court at which time the occupants fled on foot into the surrounding area. Officers of the Madison Police Department, the Ridgeland Police Department, deputies with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, as well as troopers from the Mississippi Highway Patrol canvassed the area for the subjects.

Three male subjects that had been in the vehicle were located and arrested. It was also determined that the vehicle was stolen. Several firearms were also confiscated from the vehicle with one being reported stolen.
