On Tuesday, January 30, at approximately 7:15 pm Madison police officers conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation on a vehicle that had been reported to have possibly been involved in earlier shoplifting incidents in Flowood.
Investigation by officers determined that stolen merchandise valued at approximately $745 from the Madison Lowe’s store was in the stopped vehicle.
During the investigation, further information was obtained from the Warren County MS Sheriff’s Office that the subject may have also been involved in auto burglary incidents in that jurisdiction.
A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle and evidence was found that was involved in the Warren County auto burglaries.
37-year-old Colby M. Ashley has been charged in Madison with one count of Felony Shoplifting (3rd Offense). After his initial appearance in Madison Municipal Court on February 1, he was released to the custody of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office for additional charges in their jurisdiction.
