
A tiny white kitten is safe after its owners, who were wanted out of Alabama, ran from Madison Police Department in an alleged stolen vehicle Monday morning.
Around 9:12 AM, the Madison Police Department responded to a report of subjects in a vehicle who had stolen items from a garage from a residence in the Windsor Hills neighborhood of Madison.
Officers encountered the 2003 Toyota Tundra truck on Highway 463 near Interstate 55 and upon attempting to stop the vehicle, it fled southbound on Interstate 55 with officers in pursuit. Officers also learned that the vehicle was reported stolen from Walker County, Alabama. The vehicle pursuit continued southbound on Interstate 55 at which time the vehicle exited west onto Beasley Road and then southbound on State Street.
The vehicle continued south on State Street at which time the Capitol Police Department assisted with the pursuit. The fleeing vehicle continued south on State Street turning west onto Highway 80 and then north onto Interstate 220. The vehicle exited Interstate 220 east on West Capitol Street. The vehicle continued on Capitol Street turning north on Congress Street. Upon turning on Congress Street, the vehicle stopped at which time the driver and occupant surrendered to officers.
At that point, police found the kitten in the vehicle and took it to a safe location.

Steven Garner, age 44, of Jasper, AL, was charged with receiving stolen property, which is a felony, felony fleeing and petit larceny. Garner is also wanted for receiving stolen property and attempting to elude in Cullman County, AL. Dana Morales, age 51, of Cullman County, AL, was charged with felony receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit a crime. Morales is also wanted for receiving stolen property in Cullman County, AL. Both subjects are currently at the Madison County Detention Center with no bond being set.
While responding to assist with the pursuit, a Capitol Police Department vehicle was involved in an accident with a third-party vehicle on State Street near East Rankin Street. There were no injuries reported as a result of the accident.
