Jackson Police Department received a call in reference to a Shooting Intent at 5422 Mimosa Drive. When Detectives arrived at the location, they found 27-year-old Keeya Scott had been shot multiple times and was lying in the front yard, where he had succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives learned that the victim had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend’s child’s mother, Kristie Green, over the phone.

JPD Detectives learned Kristie Green and her brother Damarcus Bassett came to the location so that she could get her property. The victim came outside arguing, and shortly after, the suspect, Demarcus Bassett, shot the victim.

This homicide is another senseless act of violence in the City of Jackson that are acts of violence between boyfriend and girlfriend and other family members getting involved.
