UPDATE: According to a Facebook post by Jeff Good, the owner of Sal & Mookie’s, the man who allegedly fired shots into the restaurant Monday morning is a former employee.

Good said the man went into the restaurant through the back door and fired shots and broke two windows with his gun. After that, he went and sat in his car and waited for JPD.

Good said Sal & Mookie’s is closed on Mondays, and that there were no injuries. The alleged shooter would have known that as an employee of the restaurant since it located to the District last year. Good said the man appeared intoxicated and could have a mental issue.

It’s unclear if the man will lose his job, Good said.
