A TRIAD grant made it possible for the sheriff of Forrest County to take important safety equipment to a local veterans organization.

According to the Forrest County Sheriff’s Department Facebook page, Sheriff Charlie Sims was able to present smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, weather radios, flashlights, and night lights to VFW Post 5397 after the department received the grant through the Mississippi Leadership Council on Aging.

“We have partnered with our local VFW leadership to help us find needy elderly persons who will benefit from these items. In my view, there is nothing better than helping our veterans who gave so much for us,” said Sims.
