One vehicle in a wreck on Highway 27 in Lawrence County.One person is dead and others are injured after a three-car wreck on Highway 27 north of Monticello Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Monticello Fire Department, units were sent to assist Sontag-Wanilla VFD with a crash in which two vehicles had collided and an 18-wheeler had clipped one of them after the first impact.
Fire units arrived on scene to find three patients; one of which was entrapped in a red vehicle and two from the silver with 1 ejected and the other partially ejected. One was deceased at the scene.
The patient from the red vehicle was quickly extricated and transferred into the care of Lifeguard Ambulance personnel. The other patient was also transferred into their care as well on their arrival. Both patients were airlifted to UMMC.
Monticello FD, Sontag-Wanilla FD, other members of Lawrence County Fire Service, Lifeguard Ambulance Service, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Monticello Police Department, Rescue 7, Rescue 9, and Mississippi Highway Patrol all responded to this accident, officials said.
