Brookhaven district troopers work three fatal wrecks over the weekend

The Mississippi Highway Patrol in the Brookhaven District worked three fatal wrecks over the weekend.

On Friday around 8:08 a.m., troopers responded to a fatal crash on Highway 569 in Amite County.

A 2004 Chevrolet Pickup driven by Anthony Oswalt, 21, of Brookhaven, was traveling south on
Highway 569 when it left the roadway, collided with a tree, and overturned. Anthony Oswalt received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.

On Friday around 4:38 PM, troopers were called to a three-vehicle crash on US-98 in Franklin County, resulting in one fatality.

The following vehicles were traveling west on US-98:
• A 1996 Buick Century driven by Clifton Ramsey, 71, Smithdale.
• A 2016 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Shaxavier Green, 22, Meadville.
• A 2015 Freightliner Tractor Truck driven by Nacole Williams, 39, Brookhaven.

The three vehicles were on US-98 when the 2016 Volkswagen collided with the 1996 Buick. After this initial collision, the 2015 Freightliner also collided with the 1996 Buick. The driver of the Buick, Clifton Ramsey, received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.

On Saturday, around 3:47 PM, troopers responded to a fatal crash on US-61 in Wilkinson County.

A 2017 Freightliner Tractor Truck driven by Demarcus Coleman, 30, of Wynne Cross, AR, was traveling north on US-61 when it left the roadway and collided with a tree. Demarcus Coleman received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.

These crashes remain under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
