Authorities say a Walthall County deputy who was in a terrible crash Saturday night is stable in the hospital.

Deputy Nickie Willoughby was involved in a crash with an 18-wheeler while responding to a call in Tylertown, a Facebook post from the Walthall County Sheriff’s Office says.

She was transferred to Southwest Regional Medical Center and then later on to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Her injuries, the sheriff’s department says, are extensive.

“Please, join us in lifting Deputy Willoughby and her family up in prayers for a speedy recovery,” the department said in a Facebook post.
