Three Teens Charged As Adults In Byram Home Invasion

On September 8, the Byram Police Department responded to Horseshoe Circle in the Lake Ridgelea subdivision, for an auto theft report.

When officers arrived, they found a female victim who was assaulted by one of the three male suspects.

The female said she was home alone when an armed male suspect forced his way into the home and confronted the victim with a handgun demanding the keys to her vehicle.

During a brief struggle, the suspect struck the victim in the face causing minor injuries. The suspect then stole the keys from the victim’s pocket and fled the scene with two other male suspects in the victim’s 2016 Honda SUV.

After further investigation, Byram detectives identified the three juvenile suspects who were all arrested within a couple of days of the incident. They are being held in the Raymond Detention Center.

The victims were identified as Marterious D. Jimerson (14 years old), Marcus Jimerson (15 years old) and Preston Catching (13 years old). They are all charged with 1 count Burglary Occupied Dwelling, 1 Count of Armed Robbery, and 1 Count of Autto theft.

Marcus Jimerson is also charged with 1 count of Assault in addition to the other charges.

The victim’s vehicle was recovered in Jackson. All three teens are being charged as adults due to the nature of the crime.
