The white church van allegedly stolen by two inmates who escaped from the Raymond Detention Center in Hinds County has been recovered in a body of water in Texas.
Travello McElroy and Tyler Charles Payne were found missing during roll call on Christmas Day, officials said. They were believed to have been connected to a van stolen from nearby Belmont Church.
According to a post from Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones on Sunday evening, a witness reported seeing a white male pushing a van into a body of water in Anna, Texas. The van was subsequently recovered and confirmed to be the one stolen from Hinds County.
Jones said a press conference is scheduled for Monday morning to update with the latest on the case.
