UPDATE: Missing Rankin County inmate has been found

UPDATE:

George Edward Jones Jr. was just taken into custody along with the individual that picked him up. The pair were tracked down and arrested by the Rankin County Sheriffs Office, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and Byram Police Department. They will be transported to the Rankin County Jail.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department is requesting assistance in locating a non-violent trusty inmate who walked off of work detail.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. today Trusty George Edward Jones Jr. walked away from a work detail at the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office.  Jones was serving time in the Rankin County Trusty Program for Auto Burglary.

22 year old Black Male
Height 5’09” Weight 170 lbs.

Information developed during this investigation reveals that Jones left the Brandon area after being picked up by a suspect in a gray four door Honda Accord passenger car.

It is believed that Jones is the Jackson Area. The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and other metro agencies are working on tracking down Jones and those who assisted him.
