Two Inmates Facing Child-Related Charges Die On Same Day at Central MS Correctional Facility

Two inmates die in prison

Rankin County Coroner David Ruth has confirmed the deaths of two inmates that happened Tuesday.

The inmates were both being held at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility.

The coroner identified them as Albert Hickombottom and Janice Mowdy.

Hickombottom was accused of Sexual Battery of a 13-year-old in 2021.

Janice Mowdy pleaded guilty to starving a 4-year-old boy to death for insurance money in 2009.

Albert Hickombottom and Janice Mowdy died Tuesday at 11:20 a.m. and 3:38 p.m. respectively.

Both inmates died at a hospital but their cause of death has not yet been released yet. They are pending autopsy.
