West Point police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man wanted in a two-week-old assault.

A release from West Point Police Department on their Facebook page said on June 20 just after 6:35 p.m., officers responded to the Timberlane Apartments for a shots fired call. When they got there, a man had been shot and was being taken to the North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point in a private vehicle.

That victim was later discharged after being treated for his gunshot wound.

Police developed Mylik Simmons, 17, as a suspect and they have charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities say he’s being charged as an adult, and he is considered armed and dangerous.

If anyone is assisting with Mylik with evading his arrest, police said, they can and will be charged with accessory after the fact, which is a felony.

If you have more information about this incident or any others, please call the West Point Police Department at (662) 494-1244 or the Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151. You can also download P3 Tips application from the app store to submit any tips on any incident.
