One is dead and one injured after an early morning crash in Jackson County over the weekend.
On Saturday, at 2:30 a.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Highway 613 in Jackson County.
A 2013 Ford Mustang driven by 25-year-old Kayla Winstead, of Irvington, AL, and passenger, 24-year-old Michael Hale-Unger, of Bath, ME, were traveling south on Highway 613. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and overturned several times. Michael Hale-Unger received serious injuries. Kayla Winstead received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
