Over the weekend, the Lee County Sheriff’s Department got a report of a stolen jar of money at a local store.

On Saturday, deputies took an incident report from Hardin’s Country Store located in the Eggville Community. It was regarding a white man who came into the business and placed an order. When the store clerk walked away to turn in the order, the suspect grabbed a jar with an undetermined amount of cash and ran out the door.

The suspect then got into a truck and left. Deputies were able to obtain video surveillance and the video was also shared on multiple social media sites.

Shortly after the video was shared, LCSO received information on a person of interest and were able to take him into custody.

Tyler Johnson was charged Sunday with the incident at Hardin’s Country Store.

Johnson has previous charges in Tennessee with Burglary of Commercial Building, Shoplifting, and Vehicle Theft. Johnson is also currently enrolled in Drug Court out of Union County.

“I would like to thank the public for the assistance in getting the information out to the public that helped identify the suspect,” said Sheriff Jim Johnson.
