To detainees have escaped from the Raymond Detention Center, according to the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office.

A release from sheriff Tyree Jones says Traverro McElroy, 36, and Tyler Charles Payne, 31, were missing at this morning’s headcount. A criminal and administrative investigation are ongoing regarding this incident.

Belmont Church on Hwy 18, which is in close proximity to RDC, was burglarized overnight. Jones said the church van, a 2005 white Chevy, MS license #CB91395, was stolen.

It’s believed to be connected to the escapees and one or both could be in possession of the stolen van.
