WLBT is reporting that a boy in Rankin County shot his girlfriend while filming a video.
Rankin County sheriff’s Department Legal Counsel Paul Holley told Howard Ballou that a 13-year-old boy and his girlfriend, who was 16, were making a video around 2 p.m. Thursday in the Oak Grove subdivision off of Old Fannin Road.
The boy apparently accidentally pulled the trigger as the girl was recording, police said. She was taken to a local hospital, where she is in stable condition.
Holley said the gun that was used is a stolen gun. It’s unclear yet if the boy will be tried as an adult. He’s currently charged with domestic assault.
