A man was arrested Monday in Rankin County on domestic violence and kidnapping charges, according to a release from the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department.

Police said around 1 p.m. deputies were dispatched to Marsman Road in the unincorporated area of Brandon. A caller had told them that Jeffery Germany had allegedly taken his wife from their home at gunpoint. The caller said Germany had a shotgun and was threatening his wife’s life.

Deputies who responded to the area began to search for Germany and found his car nearby. Tracking dogs were called to the scene and the victim was located. She told police that Germany was still in the woods and still had his shotgun.

A perimeter was set up and finally police found the suspect near the Castlewoods Country Club golf course. He was taken into custody without incident.

Germany was taken to the Rankin County Jail where he was charged with aggravated domestic violence, kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was taken before Rankin County Court Judge David Morrow by District Attorney Bubba Bramlett for an initial appearance today where he was denied bond.
