An altercation between two men over lawn-mowing money resulted in a stabbing in the Hot Coffee area of Covington County today.
Reports say that deputies received a call around 11:40 a.m. in regards to a disturbance at a residential home.
Covington County Sheriff’s Department says that 58-year-old Larry Barnes Jr. arrived at the home of an 81-year-old woman and demanded to be paid for mowing her lawn days earlier.
Barnes allegedly was holding a gun in one hand and a knife in the other.
After hearing the disturbance, the woman’s grandson, Lee Broadus, came from another room and confronted Barnes.
Authorities say that the two men started to fight each other, which lead to Broadus being stabbed in the upper chest area by Barnes.
CCSO says Broadus was taken to a local hospital by an ambulance to be treated for his injuries, and Barnes was arrested.
Barnes will be charged with aggravated assault, but other charges could be pending.
This is a developing story.
