On Saturday morning around 10:03 AM, a resident of the Cedarmont Subdivision in Madison reported a man who was inside one of their unlocked parked cars at their home.

The homeowner told police the man had fled the area. Officers were dispatched to the area and began searching for him. Further investigation revealed that a gun, money, and a debit card had been taken from another unlocked car at the same address.

Officers and investigators were able to identify a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant for him. Marcus T. Johnson, 38, of Madison County, was arrested and charged later the same day with two counts of Auto Burglary, Identity Theft, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

Johnson is currently held at the Madison County Detention Center, awaiting his initial court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.
