A homicide investigation is ongoing in Pontotoc County, but details are sketchy, according to the Pontotoc Progress.
The Progress reports that Pontotoc County Sheriff Leo Mask confirmed that the probe is centered on a home on Algoma Road. One person was fatally shot at that residence, but the name of the victim has not been released. So far it’s not clear of an age or gender for the victim either.
Mask told the Progress that the shooting took place either overnight or early Wednesday morning. There are several people authorities want to question, but only one is in custody as of 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities hope to release more information soon.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation.
