The two women who were each charged with two counts of Aggravated Trafficking of a Controlled Substance have been transferred into the custody of federal authorities.
Deyci Delapaz, age 32, of McAllen, Texas and Ana Peña, age 18 of Bronx, New York were arrested on April 15, after JCSD deputies and narcotics agents discovered approximately 25 kilos of cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl hidden in a secret compartment in the vehicle they were driving.
Both were transferred to federal authorities Wednesday and will reportedly now face federal charges.
