The Hinds County Sheriff’s Department is asking the public to help them find a man believed to be involved in a drive by shooting that left six people wounded in Bolton Saturday night.

Sheriff Tyree Jones said in a media briefing that Gevarian Heard, 21, of Edwards is wanted for five counts of aggravated assault after people riding ATVs got into a fight and began to shoot at each other.

Jones said five victims — two men and three women — were wounded by shots allegedly fired by Heard and Ahmadd White, who was wounded when return shots were fired. All the victims are expected to recover, and White was taken into custody after he was treated in the hospital, believed to have also fired shots. The vehicle allegedly shot into by Heard and White belonged to a woman Heard is believed to have shot in the head in March. The woman recovered from that shooting.

Jones said it’s unclear what the relationship is between the woman Heard is a person of interest in having shot and Heard himself.

Friday, Jones said that an hour or so after lunch time, Heard allegedly was in the Edwards area and fired shots at or near another vehicle in the Edwards area.

Heard was also accused in a homicide in 2021, Jones said, and somehow he was let out of jail before the woman was shot.

Gevarian Heard is currently wanted on five aggravated assault warrants and one for drive-by shooting.

He should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is call 601-352-1521 or Crimestoppers 601-355-TIPS (8477).
