Two suspects lead police on pursuit before hitting another car, injuring driver

A couple who were allegedly riding in a stolen vehicle led police on a chase Saturday morning that ended in a wreck that sent the civilian driver to the hospital by aircare.

The driver of a stolen vehicle led police on a pursuit early Saturday that ended in a wreck that left a civilian driver and two passengers of the suspect vehicle injured.

Byram Police Chief David Errington says officers attempted to pull over the suspected stolen vehicle around 6:11 a.m. on I-55 near Siwell Road. Jackson Police Department had reported the vehicle stolen.

Errington said the suspect driver led officers on a pursuit before crashing into the driver’s side of a maroon Mitsubishi at the intersection of Highway 80 and Robinson Road. The driver of that vehicle was badly injured and was airlifted to the hospital.

Thesuspect driver tried to run from police on foot but was caught, while the passenger was arrested in the vehicle. Both were taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with minor injuries.

According to Errington, Hinds County deputies worked the wreck.
