Two more dead after Copiah County explosion, bringing total to three fatalities

Two more people have died as a result of an explosion in Copiah County Sunday, according to the Copiah County Coroner.

Ellis Stuart said the names have still not been officially released, but that the second victim died at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and the third died in Mobile at a burn unit.

The incident took place Sunday afternoon at a home in the 3000 block of Wilderness Road.

Sheriff Byron Swilley said there was initially one fatality in the blaze, and another three that were critically injured and flown to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Swilley said multiple other people were injured, but not as severely.

Fire department resources from both Copiah and Lincoln counties were on scene.

This continues to be a developing story.
