A man who should be considered “Armed and Dangerous” is on the run in Copiah County after allegedly killing someone at the Wesson truck stop.

According to the Copiah County Sheriff, Byron Swilley, they were called to the Wesson Truck Stop at 10:49 on Tuesday evening (May 14) in reference to a person entering the store with a gun.

Wesson Police also responded and learned that the man robbed the truck stop, and took an undisclosed amount of cash.

As he was leaving, he carjacked and shot a person in the parking lot, got into their vehicle, and drove away.

The suspect dumped the vehicle a short distance away from the truck stop.

The victim was transported to the Copiah County Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

Video footage from the scene is expected to be obtained and released later today. We will keep this story updated with the latest.
