On August 3, officers with the Tupelo Police Department responded to a shots fired call on Monument Drive.
When deputies arrived, witnesses told them that a possible suspect was sitting by a nearby apartment building.
Officers then made contact with an individual and found a firearm hidden nearby.
After further investigation, 33-year-old Malcolm Carruthers (from Tupelo) was taken into custody by the Tupelo Police Department and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Weir set Carruthers’ bond at $5,000. These charges will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury.
