All of this was found after a one-vehicle wreck in Tishomingo County.

Things got tense recently when emergency medical responders found a convicted felon in a one-car accident wearing body armor and carrying several weapons in Tishomingo County.

The Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department said deputies responded after they got the call from EMS. There were multiple weapons in and around the scene.

Deputies assisted emergency personnel with wreck victim Dakota Reed Rathai and began processing the scene of the accident. While the weapons were collected, Rathai was taken by ambulance to the Iuka Hospital Emergency Room with a law enforcement escort.

Rathai was then transported to North Mississippi Medical Center and placed in the Critical Care Unit and will remain there until his release back to the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department.

Rathai is a convicted Felon from a 2017 controlled substance conviction in Tishomingo County Circuit Court. Dakota was also later convicted of two counts of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon in September 2021 and is currently on parole with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Authorities say because Rathai is a multiple offender, he is currently charged with two felony charges of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of a stolen weapon with more charges pending.
