A man is behind bars on multiple charges after police in Southaven responded to a call of an armed man in the parking lot at a local apartment complex.
Police say Sunday around 2:25 p.m., a call came in from the South Park Garden Apartments about an armed person in the parking lot. Officers arrived at the scene and the suspect ran away, carrying an “AR-style” weapon.
Officers chased him, but they lost his trail around Coventry Cove, police said. A perimeter was set and a search ensued with dogs and drones.
The suspect, Dietrich Neah, was eventually found inside an empty home on Claiborne Drive and surrendered peacefully. He was charged with possessing a stolen firearm and several other charges.
Police say there are no further suspects or danger to the public.
