Road Paving Project Underway at LeFleur’s Bluff

JACKSON, MS – A new development is paving the way to an even better experience at LeFleur’s Bluff – home to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Park’s Museum of Natural Science, Mississippi Children’s Museum, and the LeFleur’s Bluff Playground.

Beginning in early September, the road leading from the Museum Boulevard entrance of LeFleur’s Bluff to the Playground and the MMNS will be paved, enhancing the visitor experience with smoother access and a more enjoyable drive. The project is expected to take up to three months during which the museums and all amenities will remain open. Museum leaders want to ensure that visitors know what to expect during construction:

  • Joint Entrance Closed: During the paving project, the joint museums entrance will be closed.
  • Playground Visitors: Park in the MCM or MMNS parking lots and walk to the Playground or park along Museum Boulevard and enter the playground through a designated gate.
  • MMNS Visitors: Guests will use a temporary entrance just past the joint entrance on Museum Boulevard. Buses will enter through the museum’s employee parking lot off Museum Boulevard.
  • Mississippi Children’s Museum: The entrance off Museum Boulevard will remain open.

“We’re committed to providing the best possible experience for our visitors, and this road paving project is an important step in making that happen,” said Angel Rohnke, Director of MDWFP’s Museum of Natural Science. “We appreciate your patience as we enhance our facilities and ensure that LeFleur’s Bluff remains a top destination where families and nature enthusiasts can connect, learn, and play.”

Funding for the LeFleur’s Bluff was provided by the Mississippi legislature and private donors secured by the Mississippi Children’s Museum in partnership with the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. For project updates, please visit https://www.mdwfp.com/museum/visitor-information.
