According to emergency officials, one home was destroyed, one had minor damage and 13 homes were affected in the severe weather on Saturday evening.

The National Weather Service said their survey team found that the storm was a downburst with maximum straight-line winds of 80 miles per hour and took place near the Castlewoods and Langford communities.

Both homes that took damage were within the Langford Volunteer Fire Department district. There was considerable debris from Lakeway Drive off Grants Ferry NE to Joe Myers. There was also debris in Le Bourgeois. All roads and driveway access were cleared.

The family in the home that was lost on Joe Myers has been referred to Red Cross and State Individual Assistance office at the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.
