Darkhorse Press has confirmed authorities were involved in a line of duty shooting in Florence earlier this afternoon.

According to the MBI, the shooting involved the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department and happened on Walker Drive around 4:00 p.m.

Deputies with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a person threatening family members at a home.

When they arrived, the suspect discharged his weapon at deputies.

The deputies discharged their weapons, striking the suspect, who was transported to a hospital and later pronounced deceased.

Sheriff’s Department, there were no injuries to law enforcement.
