A medical cannabis company and a patients’ alliance coalition have teamed up to promote patient education and research.
On Tuesday, the Mississippi Cannabis Patients Alliance and Southern Sky Brands announced that Southern Sky has given the largest medical cannabis donation for patient education, awareness, and research efforts for Mississippi’s patients in our state’s history. With this support for MCPA, Mississippi’s patients will be able to continue receiving informative information about medical cannabis through educational and awareness resources and events, and expanded access to MSDH approved practitioners and Mississippi Department of Revenue-licensed dispensaries.
This announcement “helps patients across Mississippi better understand the process to use medical cannabis,” said Monica Bass, a local sickle-cell patient and advocate for medical cannabis. “As a patient, I rely on the MCPA for awareness, education, and resources. The MCPA is answering questions for Mississippi’s patients and families, and I am so grateful that Southern Sky Brands is giving such a substantial donation to help Mississippi’s patients!”

Southern Sky Brands has received their dispensary as well as cultivation licenses.
During the check presentation on Tuesday, representatives of the Mississippi Cannabis Patients Alliance and Southern Sky Brands pose with the $60,000 donation.“As an advocate and industry leader the two companies have been working together to provide our state with a life-saving and life-changing medical cannabis program along with educational and awareness information to thousands of patients statewide,” Mississippi Cannabis Patients Alliance CEO Angie Calhoun said. “I am delighted that Southern Sky Brands will be producing high quality, safe and effective medical cannabis for our patients in the very near future right here in Mississippi”.
