According to WDAM, a man and a dog were killed after being hit by a train around Moffett Road.
The Forrest County Sheriff’s Office said that this happened in the Maxie community.
WDAM said that a couple of men and a dog were making their way to a fishing spot near the intersection of Moffett Road and Old Highway 49 south. The dog was tied up near by but was not on the railroad tracks.
Deputies said that at some point the men heard the train coming and when they were checking on the dog they realized he was in danger. They tried to move the dog but one of the men and the dog were struck by the train.
They both died in the incident.
WDAM said that the man’s name has not yet been released.
