On August 21st, around 10:00 a.m. the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Flowood Police Department that an injured man walked into their lobby and reported that he had been to an address located in Rankin County to meet a female. He said that when he got there, he was assaulted, tied up and held at gunpoint.

Rankin County Deputies and Investigators responded to the Flowood Police Department where they met with the victim.

The victim told deputies that on Saturday evening, August 20th he went to an address in the Reservoir area to meet a female. When he arrived, the victim states he was assaulted, tied up and held at gunpoint. The victim further stated he was held against his will for approximately 3 hours. He said that the suspects took his phone and other items.

The victim identified the suspects as Cortez Adams and Laken Lowery. He said that Laken Lowery’s mother, Tina Lowery was also present during the kidnapping and assault.

The victim stated that after 3 hours, the suspects untied him and let him leave the house. He said if Adams was in his area, they would have him in contact very soon. Less than an hour later, Sheriff Patten called back and said that they had Adams and Lowery in custody and had also recovered a weapon, believed to be used in the crime.
