One Arrested After Standoff In Hinds County

UPDATE: November 15, 10:00 p.m.

35-year-old David Chase was arrested after he barricaded himself in a trailer in Hinds County.

According to Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones, deputies responded to a house on Hwy 27N in Utica where calls came in about a man firing shots at passing drivers and brandishing a firearm.

Chase barricaded himself into the home.

Sheriff Jones said that, as a result, the Jackson Hinds SWAT team was called out, along with negotiators to try to get the individual out of the trailer.

Sheriff Jones said Chase had mental writ on file for commitment to a mental institution.

Negotiators and authorities were on scene for several hours.

There were several rounds of chemical agents that were dispersed into the trailer and Chase was taken into custody.

Chase lived alone in the trailer and nobody else was involved.

He was transported to the hospital for minor injuries and as of Thursday morning is still being treated.

Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said that deputies are on the scene of an active standoff.

The standoff is happening on Hwy 27N in Utica.

They received reports of an individual shooting at cars in the 6600 block of Hwy 27N.

Nobody has been shot, and nothing has been damaged by gunfire as of this time.
