Further information has been released about some human remains found on Wynndale Road in Hinds County.

Sheriff Tyree Jones said the decomposed remains were located near a water tower after someone saw a dog with some of the remains.

Jones said the body appears to be that of a woman, but the stage of decomposition makes an ID difficult. There was a gun located near the body,

The location of the discovery was close to where the vehicle belonging to a missing McComb woman was found in October.

Chantel McCray was last seen on October 18 in the Fernwood area of Pike County before her vehicle was found on October 23 with all her personal belongings inside it.

Police do not yet know if the remains found could be McCray’s.
