A post from Star Volunteer Fire Department encapsulated the feelings of the Rankin County Fire Service… again.

In the last month, there have been funeral services for Monterey firefighter Joshua Spann, who died trying to save a woman from what appeared to be an abusive situation at the hands of a man who ended up being his killer, and former Monterey/Langford/Reservoir firefighter Ed Steed, who also worked at Rankin EOC for many years.

This time it is Florence Volunteer Fire Department’s Joey Herrington, a fixture in his department, and someone who was much loved by everyone who knew him.

“There will be lines of Fire Trucks and other emergency response vehicles along Hwy 49 on Tuesday, May the 9th. Joey will be so missed by all who came to know him. Please keep his family, Florence Fire Department, and all those who served beside him in your prayers. Tuesday, we may lay yet another fire brother to rest, but he will watch over us along with all those who came before him. Joey, we love you and we miss you dearly already…”
