Help Rankin County VFDs collect Christmas toys for burn center

Therese Apel

Firefighters in Rankin County are working together to gather toys for the holidays for the Burn Center at Mississippi Burn, Hand, and Reconstruction Center at Baptist Hospital.

Rankin County Fire Coordinator Brett Ishee has asked all of the county fire departments to assist by collecting toys for children from newborn babies up to 6 years old.

“This is just a way to help out others in need,” said Ishee. “It’s what we do when we’re called to help. This is a cause that’s really special to us as brothers and sisters in the fire service.”

The toy drive will be going on between now and December 14, and any donations can be dropped off at any of Rankin County’s volunteer fire departments or at Rankin Emergency Operations Center. Support your local fire department along with the burn center and help them donate more toys than any of the other departments!

MBHRC at Baptist is Mississippi’s premiere burn center and offers a full continuum of burn, hand and wound care to ensure the best outcomes possible.

“Our ‘never say ‘no’’ policy means we believe no patient should go without acute, possibly life-saving, care,” states MBHRC’s website. From acute emergent care of severe injuries to physical and occupational rehabilitation to long-term reconstructive care, it’s our mission to help our patients and their families find hope in healing for a better tomorrow.”
