On Sunday, April 24, 2022, officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the 1400 block of East Union Street (Delta Health System) in reference to an unresponsive infant.

Authorities were told that a 6-month-old baby was brought into the Emergency Room to undergo treatment for having water in his lungs.

The infant was flown to another facility for further treatment but succumbed to his injuries two days later.

During the investigation, it was learned that the baby was in the custody of Brandy Richardson.

Autopsy results suggest that the infant’s cause of death was Abusive Head Trauma.

The facts of this case were presented to a Municipal Court Judge, and a warrant was issued for the arrest of Brandy Richardson on Murder charges.

On March 7, 2023, Richardson was taken into custody and charged.

She is currently in the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility awaiting her initial appearance.

Richardson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
