A Clinton mother has been arrested after her infant son was found dead at a Clinton hotel.

Clinton police were called to the Econo Lodge hotel on Clinton Center Drive where the baby was found dead.  

Darla Luke, 34, has been charged with felony child neglect, according to the Clinton Police Department. City officials say that her other children were placed with a grandmother.

Amanda Jones, a spokesperson for the city of Clinton said in a release Wednesday that in June Luke was also charged with a misdemeanor of child neglect after officers responded to a domestic dispute.

The charge was related to living conditions and things going on at the house, Jones said.

“At some point between June 7 and June 21, the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services returned the children to her custody,” Jones said in a statement.

Jones also included that the baby was Luke’s ninth child.
