Capitol Police Arrest One After Stand Off In Belhaven Neighborhood

One man is in custody after a standoff in the Belhaven neighborhood.

On Thursday, September 7th, Capitol Police responded to a call regarding a domestic violence situation at a home on Fairview Street in Jackson.

When officers arrived, they encountered a man attempting to leave the home.

When police approached the house, he ran back inside the home.

Officers determined there was a woman inside the house who had been taken hostage by the man. The man was identified as 40-year-old Daniel Fairly.

Police said the woman was able to escape without any serious physical injuries.

Capitol police were able to negotiate with the man and quickly de-escalated the situation.

Fairly was arrested without any further incident and no officers were injured. Police said that charges are pending.

“Situations like this are never easy, but I am proud of the swift response done by the team here at Capitol Police,” said Capitol Police Chief Bo Luckey. “I am thankful for the patience displayed by these officers and that we were able to quickly and efficiently de-escalate the situation and come out of this with no injuries.”
