Alleged shooter IDed in Sunday night Rankin County domestic dispute

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department has identified the alleged shooter in Sunday night’s domestic disturbance on Tyler Drive.

Rankin County deputies and medical responders were called to Tyler Drive  just after 9:30 p.m. after a man had allegedly shot his stepson. On the scene, Lt. Justin Evans said the son was shot twice, and the stepfather was taken to the Rankin County Jail.

Rankin deputies administered first aid to the victim until EMS arrived.

The stepfather has been identified as Bradly Ballard. He has been charged with aggravated assault.

Witnesses said the dispute centered around the stepson’s child. The stepson, whose name has not been released, was said to be able to talk on scene, but his current condition and status have not been released.
