A man is dead after a collision on Highway 25 in Rankin County.

First responders on scene said a man, whose name has not yet been released by Highway Patrol, was killed when his car collided with an 18-wheeler and was carried off the road into some trees.

Traffic was slowed on 25 as first responders worked to extract the driver from the vehicle. The Rankin County coroner was on scene to transport the victim to the morgue.

There were family members at the scene.
