Pike County still seeking public’s help identifying church vandals

Therese Apel

Pike County Sheriff James Brumfield said police are still looking for leads in the almost two-week-old case of a vandalized church.

Overnight Sept. 25, the sheriff said the Bogue Chitto Woods Missionary Baptist Church on Highway 80 East was vandalized with profane graffiti. The words, directed against God, were spray-painted on the church windows and sidewalk. Photos shared on social media were edited to black out the offensive language.

Police turned to the public almost a week ago asking for leads, and Brumfield said people are still encouraged to come forward with any information they may have, no matter how small it may seem.

Callers with information that leads to an arrest and prosecution may be eligible for a reward through Crime Stoppers, and may leave tips anonymously. Please call Crime Stoppers at 601-684-0033 or Pike County central dispatch at 601-783-2323.
