A Yazoo City police officer was arrested on rape-related charges in Philadelphia.

A little over a week ago, Austin Davis, 22, of Yazoo City, was arrested by Philadelphia officers and charged with kidnapping and rape-assault with intent to ravish.

Yazoo City Police Chief Joseph Head said he received a call from the Philadelphia police chief the day after the alleged incident occurred.

“I called him in and told him that Philadelphia was coming to question him,” Head said. Davis was terminated from the Yazoo City Police Department shortly thereafter.

According to the Neshoba Democrat, Davis was brought into the Winston-Choctaw County jail on Aug. 2 at 8:17 p.m. and bonded out on the $75,000 bond the following evening.
