Three people are dead after a Monday afternoon crash in Copiah County.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol reports that a log truck and car collided on Highway 28 near Mercy Seat Road. The crash happened around 3:13 p.m.

Authorities say the log truck, driven by 75-year-old Robert A. Hunter of Brookhaven, was traveling east on Highway 28 when it collided with a 2018 Lexus ES350 driven by Akera S. Reese, 34, of Bogue Chitto.

Robert A. Hunter, Akera S. Reese, and Tiffany C. Coleman, 42, of Brookhaven, a passenger in the Lexus, all died on the scene.

The accident is under investigation, according to MHP.
