Crystal Springs police are searching for a driver who allegedly attempted to run over an officer during a traffic stop.
Chief Tony Hemphill told WLBT an officer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Pearl and Railroad Avenue on Monday. As he checked the driver’s information, he found it to be fraudulent. Hemphill said the officer asked the driver for his ID again and returned to his car to run the information.
It was at that point that Hemphill said the driver put his vehicle in reverse and at a high speed headed straight towards the officer.
Police are looking for a black 2011 Chevy Cruze with Copiah County plates.
Authorities say the officer escaped without injury.
