Two Arrested After Leading Deputies On High-Speed Chase With Toddler In Car

Jones County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Xavier Thigpen attempted a traffic stop of a Dollar General shoplifting suspect on Eastview Drive on Tuesday morning with the driver fleeing in a Toyota Camry.
A high-speed pursuit began on Eastview Drive, continuing onto U.S. Hwy. 11 heading into Laurel, and ended in the 2100 block of Second Avenue in Laurel. Multiple JCSD units, assisted by Laurel Police Department units, converged on the vehicle during the pursuit.
    
The driver, 38-year-old Rosa Williams, of Laurel, was arrested and charged with:
Felony Fleeing In A Motor
Vehicle
Child Endangerment
Shoplifting
Careless Driving
No Drivers License
No Insurance
No Seat Belt x 2
Possession of
Paraphernalia
A toddler was found in the back seat of the vehicle along with a front seat passenger, nineteen-year-old female Zabbiana Page, of Laurel, who was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.
JCSD Squad Sergeant Jason Mills noted, “Pursuit speeds reached 85-90 miles per hour on U.S. Highway 11 putting the toddler, passenger, and driver in danger plus endangering other motorists and law enforcement officers. Great job by all of the JCSD and LPD units who participated in this pursuit and capture.”
Williams and Page are both currently incarcerated at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility pending their initial appearance in Jones County Justice Court.
